Sarah Palin gave a policy speech today - I have not been able to find it but did find a 'review' of what she'd say. Her BIG plan is to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (Congress passed this in 1974 and promised to fund it @ 40% to date it has only been funded to 17% and the states and school districts have had to pick up the slack)

Now, this wouldn't be a ploy to get school boards and school administrators and parents of special needs children to jump on the McCain/Palin bandwagon would it? :grr:

Anyone got an extra $12-14 billion to spare - b/c that's what it's gonna take to fully fund this 34-year-old unfunded mandate!!! What a bunch of horseshit!!

Okay - I guess I can 'Bidenize' this a little - JRB not only voted for the IDEA "back in the day" b/c it's a great law! He also (I believe) co-sponsored the legislation AND has supported, every chance he's had, raising the funding for the law.

Palin's got nothing on our cupcake!!!

2. Debi - my blood is boiling too.

I don't know how things are in Iowa, but funding for Spec Ed in Az is not a problem.
It's all the other programs that the repugs in this town keep trying to cut.

It makes me sick she is pandering like this.
Her son is only like 7 months old....she has NO clue what challenges lie ahead.
How does she even know what she is talking about?
