1. I was really thinking she'd make it a couple more days and then let go.

I hope it was peaceful and his sister was with Toot.

2. This is quite sad-
but things like this happen for a reason. Call it karma or fate but her passing away today, the day before the election, is significant. My Gram was born and literally died days before the Red Sox clinched their first World Series. She was an avid fan and watched every game. The victory was even sweeter for my family because it symbolized more then just a game.

I know baseball could never compare to this historic election but this is a sign. (In my humble opinion.)

3. Maybe she wanted to be with him.
I believe. I really do.

I lost my dad 2 years ago. We were so close. So much love between us.
I still feel him, like he is still with me.

I dunno. Maybe this sounds crazy, but I can't believe death is final.

4. No, death isn't final to me either. I live in my Gram and Gramps house
and even though it's been renovated with an addition, in the original house, I can still feel their presence. My Gram knew when she passed that me and my husband were going to buy her home and she didn't have to worry about anything. She passed in her sleep. Her heart stopped. Quite peacefully.

I'm sorry about your loss of your dad. You're not very old to have gone through that already. I almost lost my mom 1 1/2 yrs ago from a brain embolism. Some scary shit right there. Maybe that's why I connected w/ Joe!

5. Oh - that is so sad about your mom.
That must've been hard to lose her so suddenly.
Can I ask how old she was when it happened?

My dad was 87 when he passed. He had lived the American dream.
Had a good life. But - I have to laugh when you said that I'm not very old to have gone thru that already - mrigirl - I'm 52! ;)

8. I feel my Gram's presence with me every minute....
Edited on Tue Nov-04-08 03:44 AM by 48percenter
I was born when my mom was only 18 (shotgun wedding) my Uncle was 15. My grandparents basically raised me because my mom had to work, so they were like my parents (esp. since my father split to CA when I was 4)

My Gram had a sad beginning, her mother died when she was just 4 so she (and her younger brother) were sent to live with an aunt and uncle. They were from immigrants Germany, as were my grandmother's parents. She spoke only German at home until she attended school.

She was 50 when I was born, and a picture taken of me at age 5 - I am a spitting image of her.

And then I go and move BACK to Germany. I see so much of my Gram in everyday German life: her love of the outdoors, walking, birds... I felt her helping me learn the language, and not a day goes by that I don't miss her.

7. I just read....

Somehow in my heart I believe she knows that her grandson will be the 44th President, and she felt it was time to go.

RIP Toot :grouphug:
