Now Joe's in Afghanistan.
I hope he can sneak in a super secret trip to see Beau....altho taxpayers may not like it if he does.

Vice President-elect Joe Biden meets with U.S. Gen. David McKiernan, head of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, after arriving at the ISAF headquarters in Kabul, on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009. Biden arrived for talks with the country's leaders, as surging Taliban violence claimed the lives of more American troops. (AP Photo/ISAF)

Following a meeting with McKiernan, Biden shook hands and thanked some of the U.S. troops stationed at NATO's Kabul headquarters.

"Thank you, I mean it sincerely," Biden told the troops, according to a NATO statement. "It's a big, big deal, what you're doing here. You're making a big sacrifice in a (challenging) environment. Thank you for your service." The senator from Delaware will take office as vice president on Jan. 20.

1. Poor Joe
Sharing this trip with that whiny little Lindsay! This is good for our world image though. Joe is an impressive man and this trip is a reminder that things are going to be different in Washington very soon.

2. As much as I can't stand him - I say poor Lindsay.
You can be certain he is getting no attention traveling with the next VP of the United States :)
Then again we don't need world leaders listening to Lindsay's neo-con ideals.

I bet Biden was really, really disappointed that Kerry couldn't join him.
They were a great team last year...snowstorms and all.

3. Yeah, poor guy
Traveling in Joe's shadow can't be very satisfying. Kerry would have been a much better traveling mate for Joe, but maybe the experience will be good for Lindsay.

5. Lindsay looks like he's ready for a little fun
Just imagine how oppressive it was hanging out with McCain and Lieberman for all those months. Must been a barrel of laughs. Now he has the opportunity to travel with an actual WINNER. Maybe he'll return a new and better Lindsay.
