Democrats - give me a break! (not Biden related)
I cannot believe that the Dems in the Senate are fighting Obama on his economic stimulus plan.

It would really suck if Obama has to use his veto pen on his first piece of legislation.

Yeah - I know we are not the rubber stamp people, but puleeze!

It started with Reid saying he doesn't work for Obama.
Now Stabenow and Nelson are saying they won't vote for him getting the rest of the Tarp....even if there will be oversight.

We finally get an amazing Dem President, an almost veto-proof Senate and we still aren't happy.
Where were these people over the last 8 years?

I'm just beatching!

1. It appears to be difficult to switch gears,
not that they fought Bush very hard.

Maybe they need to appear a bit independent so as not to look like their republican counterparts who followed their president blindly. Meanwhile, Obama has Biden who knows how to deal with the Senate. It should be interesting, though I'd be happier with less conflict at least in the beginning.

2. Just for once, I would like to be the party of the sheep.
I just want Obama to have a smooooth beginning.

4. Same here
I wish they'd just give him the benefit of the doubt while he kick-starts the country. Plenty of time for criticism later down the line. Right now Obama needs all the support he can get. The stakes are too high to play politics.

3. Dems hardly ever listen or go in lockstep as a whole like Rethugs
But its time to give Obama and Biden some leeway for a little while.

5. And everyone needs a break from constant conflict
After the last eight years, a little unity would be nice for a while. I would like to enjoy the historic significance of the moment.

6. It's like Dems expect more from a Dem president and make life harder for them. nt

7. I've come to bristle as much when I see Reid/Pelosi as when I see boosh.
So now you're going to stand up to the prez, Harry? I don't know if you can grow a spine that quickly! You talk the talk, but you never walk the walk. You already caved on Burris. So for all your bluster about not working for the new President, we'll see. And if you suddenly do grow a spine, then I have to ask, "Harry, why do you run with a D behind your name?"

Our problem is, we have too many dems who are not really dems. A lot of dem angst expressed in this thread:

8. Yeah
I remember how excited I was when Reid and Pelosi became the majority leaders and they've been such a disappointment ever since.

9. "Drain the swamp" Pelosi.
And then, immediately after the election, impeachment off the table. Investigations off the table. War funding approved, time & time again! :banghead:

10. I'm afraid
that during the process of "draining the swamp", she found too many Democratic sins.

11. I think alot of Dems feel the same way about Reid and Pelosi.
More so towards Reid.
What a completely assinine thing to say - that he doesn't work for Obama. Reid should be working his little butt off trying to help Obama get his agenda thru, not working against him.
Maybe he never played team sports and doesn't understand that in order to reach the goal you have to give a little.
