Obama's coming to Phoenix next week! |
|
Thanks to some DUer in gdp - I just found out.
Hmmm - Maybe I'll hold up a sign that says TELL JOE BIDEN I LOVE HIM - hehe.
I have questions - so many questions. I hope he calls on me :) Maybe I'll bring Jenny in her wheelchair - that ought to get me up front. Hey - I'm not using her - she loves Obama too.

What does your gut tell you?
ETA: I'm somewhat of an introvert (really! no one believes me!) and would cringe if I were ever called on in a public forum like that. So I'm not much help I'm afraid :-)

2. If he called on me, I would probably sound like a babbling idiot - |
|
but - I really do have questions.
My most important question is now that he took our Governor, she was replaced by a very conservative Republican who just cut our education budget by 40% (grrr - we are livid in Az - don't get me started) and with the money that is in the stimulus plan for education, how we would know that she would use it properly - because I don't trust her, or the repugs that run our state. They always want to cut education.
My other question is about my 40lk - I worked at a bank for 25 years, retired 2 years ago to take care of my daughter and now my 401k is just about gone. I was really counting on that money. Is this it for me, do I just need to get over it and face the fact that my savings are gone?
So - even tho I will sound like a nutcase :P I really do want to ask him about these things.
I'm not going to bring a sign that says I Love Biden :) I'll just bring my Obama/Biden sign and have Jenny hold it ;)

I have no doubt you wouldn't sound like an idiot. I hope you take the time to go see Joe. It will be something you'll never forget.
When I saw him here in Iowa......one thing jumped out at me. This guy is the real deal. He is genuine. You could just sense it. I pushed my wife over to him. She is very shy and she had a good conversation with him. Then he looked at me and my mind went completely blank. I could not think of one thing to ask.......I just looked back like a bump on a log and finally said good luck!!....:banghead: ....If you knew me you would know I am never at a loss for words. I work with different people all day and can always carry on a conversation....but this particular time I acted like a big dope.
If you have a couple questions in mind you will do fine. I just didn't think I would ever have the chance to ask him anything....boy was I wrong..
Oh....one more thing.....even though I am a guy.....he is soooooooooo much better looking in person. Looks like he could take off and run a 5K and not break a sweat.
You need to do whatever it takes to get there and get his attention....ANYTHING to get his attention!!!

4. Oh - I wish it was Joe that was coming here - but it's the President himself. |
|
Which is just as exciting - I love Obama.
And that is exactly what I'm afraid of - that I'll go blank. I think taking my daughter who has special needs should get me a good seat, and then hopefully I will get his attention. She's all excited! My other daughter is going to try to join us too. She's in college in Tucson. Depending on what classes she'll have to miss.

I totally misread that as Biden.....maybe it's this particular room. I've never seen Obama.....he was in Iowa plenty, but I didn't consider him a contender....a flash in the pan......so don't trust my judgement!!....
I wish you guys luck....and I wouldn't even think twice about any advantage I could use...good luck!!

|
I would love nothing more if Biden came here :)
Hey - Obama was my last choice - so don't feel bad :silly:

8. Guess I'm going to be watching it on tv like everyone else. |
|
They only made 650 tickets (keep in mind that Phoenix is the 5th largest city) people were camped out all nite.
IF I would've signed onto DU yesterday I would've seen Mutt's message to me telling me when they were going on sale. Thanx for trying to let me know  See what you miss when you stay away from the computer :(

10. I never thought I would have to camp out at nite. Crazy - huh? |
|
I still might go out there Wed am to try to get a glimpse of him. Democrats in Phoenix is a very rare event :)
That said - if this was Joe, I would be in pirhana mode right now.

At least you can be close to the action even if you're not part of it.

11. aw, I'm so bummed for you. I was hoping they had emailed Obama's supporters there |
|
and figured that thread would just be something you already knew.
I didn't realize Phoenix was that big!! He must be doing smaller events now due to security. No more 10,000 people events I guess :(

13. What many of us who didn't get tickets are wondering is why |
|
he is holding the event in the gymnasium, rather than the football field which would accomadate alot more people. Plus - it's going to be in the upper 60's tomorrow and sunny.
Oh well. Next time I will know.
