I still see nothing wrong w/what Biden said (but I guess this gives the doubters something to bitch about).

5. Coming out of the woodwork - but not really.
The comments here and at other sites have all been the same - Biden said nothing wrong.

How do you think he takes this, when the media has been in full poutrage mode all day?
Does he just laugh it off, or do you think it hurts him? He seems so emotional.

I just hope he knows how many people love and respect him.

6. I often wonder about that
Maybe he's living through so much real sorrow that he lets the trivial crap slide off. And he has the support of a wonderful family.

8. I really doubt it bothers him at all. He has been through an awful lot of bad stuff in his life.
The MSM jumping on him is hardly new to him too.

9. You KNOW his family is with him - I'm pissed @ the Administration
and certain cabinet members. He is loyal as they come and deserves the same from those he serves with. But this AM's gossipfest that passes as news nowadays showed official after official making fun of Biden's comments. Oh bullshit Robert and Janet and all you jerks who think it's cool to throw the VP under the bus. You'd say the same thing to your family and YOU KNOW IT!

How about 'What Joe Biden said is what Joe Biden felt and he answered the question honestly' ???

:grr:

At least all of them know that Biden would never behave the way they did toward him.

13. Debi - you know the site
whitehouse.gov? Of course you do!

You know where it says 'contact us'?

Well I did - twice! Different names different email addresses.
The second one, I completely let them know how pissed I was.

What would have been wrong with them saying something like "I understand what VP Biden was saying, and I imagine alot of people feel the same way as he does, but according to the CDC it is not necessary to avoid public transportation at this time"
But no - instead they had to throw him under the bus!

Infact in my second email, I said that I wish Joe Biden would've stayed in the Senate where at least his colleagues respected him.

Ooh - i was in complete pirhana mode yesterday.

7. Why am I not surprised
I wasn't around yesterday but last night before bed I got a message from one of my high school friends via Facebook (she lives here and is a attorney in DC):

"Hey, what's up with your boy Biden scaring everybody? He went off message and is contributing to the panic"

Not exactly the way I wanted to end my birthday, but I got into it with her about it.

"Exactly what did he say that was wrong," I said.

"He went off message and went counter to what the health officials were saying!!elevens! People are hanging onto his every word!!!eleventy!"

"But he's not the head of the CDC, and he reiterated that he was talking about his FAMILY. Personally I'd do the same thing. I certainly don't like flying when it's regular flu season. I don't see the major sin, here."

"And besides," I continued: "People die from 'regular' flu every year. Where's the panic about that? Flu germs mutate all the time. Where's the panic in that? Most people are recovering from this strain of flu (so far). And perhaps people are panicking because the 24/7 media is hammering on this constantly. Did our VP LIE about anything? Did he obfuscate? Was he evasive? Then what's the problem?! We had eight YEARS of lying, obfuscation and evasion. I'm sorry if I'm not jumping on the crucify Biden bandwagon. I will give you that perhaps he should not have said something to the general public that was meant for his family. But I don't see the outrage, sorry."

I can only imagine what the conversation was like around here yesterday :eyes:

I am so sick and tired of people microstalking Biden, lying in wait to pounce on every single little thing that comes out of his mouth. It is tiresome. My only consolation in all of that is that they do it because they know they have nothing else on him.

14. It was Rachel and Olbermann, and Tweety, and Andrea Mitchell that were in full attack
mode.

I swear, sometimes I feel like Keith and Rachel have become the Limbaughs of the left.

15. Its the fact that they bought into the typical media smear
that is so disappointing. They just helped propel the crap and there were plenty of good stories to cover instead. Their viewers watch them (not Mitchell of course), because they often cover stories no one else will and they are unique. There is nothing unique about picking up on a stupid story that has no importance. I don't watch Keith and Rachel to hear the same crap that's been repeated all day.

18. What was so strange is that they were more concerned about what effect Joe's words will have on the
travel business.

So now they care more about the corporate world than people?

20. Of course
there is concern about the economy, but as far as the travel business goes, anyone who delays a trip now, will probably make up for it in the near future.

I wonder if Keith and Rachel are caving to management.

Like he did with the whole torture issue at first with Obama. Rachel has always been a worry wort over everything the Dems did no surprise there, half the time during the election she thought McCain would win.

They totally slammed the President right after his press conference. Even Jon Stewart made fun of them last nite.

That person I had the spat with is a fellow Dem....and she watches Keith and Rachel religiously.

It's like she just took their points and ran, and didn't bother to think this through.

Yes, we can be as bad and as reactionary as the right. x(

And I'm upset that the POTUS and other administration staff officials can't give Biden respect. The administration demands loyalty and respect but it seems in Joe's case, they don't feel they owe it back. They need to do a better job of having his back. Especially in public and especially with the media.

26. Yes
That whole situation could have been handled much better by the White House, in a way that wouldn't belittle the Vice President. Basically Joe was answering a personal question about his own family, not advising the rest of the country what to do. It was so annoying when they did the "Joe was saying...." or "What Joe meant....." That was insulting and demeaning.

27. I still don't get why they didn't just say, "Well,
Joe was speaking about his own family, which includes a 92 year old woman who was recently in the hospital. And the point of his answer was that it was not about blaming Mexico, but thinking about disease transmission."

29. I'd rather be Joe's spokesperson! We can all take turns. Didn't they do the same thing
with the bowing to Saudi Arabia thing - turn it into a fiasco because they lied about it?

And why did it take until Biden's interview for someone to set the record straight on what a presidential handshake means and that our leaders ought to be minimally polite

30. Yep - Biden did a great job defending Obama on that handshake!
I think anyone of us would be an awesome spokesperson for Joe.

I am so sick of him getting beat up, so sick of knowing the media follows his every word looking for a slip up. As I wrote in that thread, I'm really hoping one day Joe loses it with the media and lets them have it - just like he did the first time I ever saw him. He was on cspan at a Kerry event and let the media have it for reporting on the swift boat liars. He was under one of those tents with a bunch of reporters and he was just ripping into them for messing with the patriotism of John Kerry.
ha - he definitely was off script that day - and I loved him for it.
