I'll tell you what this media bullshit is...
it's backlash for Spector. They are taking out their anger over losing a republican against Joe, because they know he probably was the driving force behind it. Maybe not the only reason, but we all know it was a factor. This is their way of getting back at him. Not that they have ever felt the need to have a real reason....they're just fucking assholes.

1. Well - Olbermann started his countdown with this as the number 1 story.
I don't think that he was upset about Specter switching.

5. I was disappointed
that both Keith and Rachel latched on to this silly non-story. I really expected better of them.

7. Every single MSNBC personality, except Ed, milked it for all it was worth.

Of course, I *missed* Ed because I had to go pick up the husband from work. Then I heard it again on the Daily Show AND the Colbert Report.

6. I agree.
I don't know what was so hard to understand what he said. He was giving his personal opinion concerning his own wonderful self and his equally wonderful family. Pure common sense. It must be because I've "known" him for so long, but I always get what he means. It's the alternate interpretations that I never get. I'm always like...how the hell did you get that out of what he said?

Backlash indeed. You bet there are many GOPers upset about Spector's move, and Biden has been friends with him for a long time, and certainly was a factor in Spector's decision. Imagine having Biden work on you over a period of time to support an issue, or change your mind about a belief. Actually, Spector held out pretty well! lol

And yes, they are assholes, and so are the others that are dissecting Joe's every word. Fortunately, Joe is used to this, but still, it has to sting just a bit.

Good to "see" you around!
:hi:

8. You know
a lot more people would have taken his comments as we did if the media hadn't manipulated his words and made a big deal out of it.

9. Eggzackly...they look for stuff to jump on him about.
There is not one of his "gaffes" in the last year that I have not understood as far as what he meant. You have to twist his words to get the meaning the media makes of them.

It was a hoot today. One of my teaching buddies came in the room and said she almost called me the other day about this issue. I started to explain it to her, and we went back and forth. My kids, who were standing in line waiting to go to lunch were pivoting their heads back and forth as we bantered, like they were at a tennis match. She does like Joe, but she thought his words were inflammatory, and inappropriate for a VP...raise the fear kind of stuff. I was defending him and saying stuff like, it's not my problem if you read innuendos into his every spoken word. It was pretty funny. She finally told my kids that their teacher was biased when it came to Joe Biden, and I said of course I am because Joe is always right. My kids had a good chuckle over the teachers friendly bickering.

The lying weasel couldn't complete a sentence without the listener struggling to comprehend what he meant, yet plain spoken English by Joe Biden is twisted and misrepresented until it has some sinister and bizarre meaning. I take him literally. What he says is what he means. He is not a person who frequently uses figures of speech or parables, etc. He speaks literally. So when he is asked a question, he answers it literally.

And why am I telling you this? I have no idea, because you already know it, too. lol!

13. I guess the things we love about Joe
are the same things that the media loves to twist and manipulate. Maybe the world isn't ready for a straight shooter, though many people understood what he meant. Before the 24/7 era of news, politicians didn't have to weigh every word they said carefully. There was no one looking to make a news story out of every little detail of a public figures life.

I think Matt Lauer knew what he was doing. Otherwise he wouldn't have prefaced his question, with "I don't mean this to be a gotcha question". I believe members of the media anticipate and hope for a gaffe when it comes to Biden, so they'll get more exposure. Its just a big game to them, at a time when there really are serious issues to report on.

Glad your kids got a good chuckle. It probably was educational for them to see people so involved in the political process.

10. And Olbermann just made a little dig at Joe.
Ryan Lizza on talking about who Obama will pick to replace Judge Souter.
Ryan was saying there was talk that Biden gave a list to Obama, and KO said that probably 5 people on Biden's list are already on the bench - oops he said - he couldn't resist.

Hey Olbermann -

14. Yeah
I saw that. What the hell! That was completely unnecessary and inappropriate, being that Joe used to be chairman of the judicial committee and his actions there have affected us in profound and positive ways.

17. Maybe KO didn't do his homework and doesn't realize that Biden voted
against both Alito and Roberts . . .which is a better record than the POTUS has.
