Some of y'all know that I gave up DU for Lent, and of course came back after Easter.
Since I've been back I have seen such ugliness on DU....I don't ever recall it being this bad, not even during primaries. It is subtle, but still distinguishable. Snark and personal attacks seem to be at an all-time high, while common courtesy appears to be at an all-time low. I am seeing a lot of bullying, too.
I know it is time for me to take a break from DU when yet another Biden hair plug joke can send me fuming.
These people (and they know who they are, because it's always the same people) think it's cute. However, when they do that, I reflect on the staples that were in Biden's head after his brain surgery, and I don't see the humor in it at all.
Have a problem with Biden's past decisions? Fine. Past comments he's made? Okay. Past votes? I can respect that. Those are things that can be debated.
But I cannot respect the ugliness of so-called liberals disrespecting the vice president's HAIR or hairline, knowing that the man almost died. DIED. That hairline, which seems to provide so many cheap jokes for so many folks here, was under a SCALPEL, for God's sake. I may be hypersensitive about this, but right now I don't care. It takes a special kind of callousness and depravity to do that, I think.
So I'm going to take my thin skin off the DU for a while. I was on a very ugly thread today (unrelated to Biden) witnessing the kind of cyberbullying that would discourage any decent human being. I have had my fill of lack of decency and respect, and have better things to do with my time. I'll see the usual suspects (you know who you are) in the other familiar places.
DU is going to (continue to) lose a lot of good people if they don't get the cyberbullying under control.

1. Skinner recently posted a thread about this very thing. |

Saying that this is the first time that we have had one of our own in the WH since the formation of DU and he has had to take some time to think about how to handle it.
He said it is okay to debate Obama's decisions, but it is NOT okay to personally attack other DUers for having a different opinion than yours.
I understand why you would want to take a break. See you at fb

but I'm glad we'll see you over at FB.
I spend most of my time in the Iowa Forum and here and venture into The Lounge once in a while.
When I look into GD or GD-P I just wonder what all these angry people would be like if we put them in a room together. :scared:

(power charger died) and I think it was a good break for my blood pressure! I find DU addictive but it's not healthy.
I recently learned why my ignore list used to be so huge. I had cleaned it out after the inauguration but recent attacks on Hillary Clinton, President Obama, and Joe have reminded me why I kept it so big.
But if I'm really ignoring so many people and hiding thread, why am I here? Trying to spend less time here...

I don't spend a lot of time here, but when I do, I'm selective about what posts I click. I like good news stories and insightful opinion pieces. An occasional humorous thread is a nice break, but the rest of it doesn't appeal me. I'm not a confrontational person by nature, so I have no desire to get into cyber fights.
