Not many of us around Bidenville these days.

I may have just had it with DU. Why should I visit a site where it's perfectly OK to quote conservative sites bashing Biden and have DUers chime in with a bunch of amens? And then people just posting inflammatory things on a variety of topics, not grounded in the turth. And insulting each other on everything imaginable.

Spending less time here has been healthy for me. I don't know if DU's going downhill, but, geez, life's too short for this!

I still wonder about Gateley - hope she's OK. Hope all of you are OK too.

That was a crazy post - if we don't do something to change the road we are on, hell yes we are going to stay bankrupt.
I don't understand that person's point.

3. Our little Biden group has gotten pretty quiet,

but I figure it's summertime and people are busier than usual.

I still use DU to keep up with current events and generally try to avoid all the snark. Of course, I try to check in at our group regularly. Joe has gotten a bad rap overall and it was worse at DU before he became the VP nominee. DUer's used to be much nastier towards him than they are now.

Looking "out there", it's obvious there are people who take DU much too seriously. Sometimes it is disturbing when I see liberals behaving as close minded and hateful as right-wingers. Of course, they can't see it and god help anyone who points it out!

4. I spend much less time on DU than I did before.

Somehow I miss a lot of hot threads. I hit the Latest, the Greatest, then my personal forums. If I read the first sentence or two of a thread & it doesn't appeal to me, I leave. I also don't respond much anymore. If you don't respond, you don't feel inclined to see if anyone has responded back, so you don't even come here. ;)

I wonder about Gateley too, but I know that it is very difficult to get back on your feet. I hope she is well.

5. I can generally tell by the subject line

if a thread is of any interest to me. There are still some interesting ones out there, you just have to avoid the traps. It is so easy to get sucked into all the drama.

I just don't have the time or energy for all the crap anymore. I also think some of the coarse language is unnecessary. I'm not averse to swearing, but with some people it is so excessive and distracting. I rarely click on a thread that has a profane subject line, but maybe that's because I'm careful not to write anything from an angry mental state. People tend to listen to the "anger" instead of the ideas or opinions - not very productive.

After my suspension I'm not to enthused about this place.

I lurk.

I check over here and over @ the Iowa Forum (I won't be able to do either after my star gives out and I doubt this place will get any more of my $$ after the banning/suspension of almost 30 GOOD DUers).

It is typical, though of me. I'm always the last one to hear any of the gossip at work, or it is entirely possible that I hear it and promptly forget it. I've always told people that their secrets are safe with me, because I can't remember diddly-poo. Hate gossip, anyway.
I had no idea there were any specific problems with any of our little family, or that anyone was suspended or T'stoned.

I knew there was a bunch of madness and lots of banning/suspension a couple of weeks ago but didn't know how far it went.

Life's just too short for that sort of stuff, ya know?

13. DU seems to have gotten a bit better then it was about 2 weeks ago.

Maybe the unrec thing has people posting smarter, less flame worthy threads. Then again, who knows? There is a part of DU that is very, very anti-establishment no matter who is in power and don't really looks at the facts. I try to ignore that bunch, though I have had some nasty fights with them. Its better to not even try to have a conversation, you get no where.

16. It has seemed a bit better to me too,

but I thought it was just my choice of threads. There were some really interesting discussions out there. Guess it runs in cycles.
