2. I remember when we could "talk" to each other here more quickly than |
|
picking up the phone! Well, the election IS over, so it's understandable.
I was thinking the other day of when we were on pins and needles when the word was out that O might pick Joe as VP. People were posting private flights leaving from near Joe's house to wherever O was at the time, I actually TRACKED one of those flights on flight tracker. That was so much fun! And remember the outpouring of support for Joe here on DU? Too cool.

and I "watched" them fly over and fly home! :hi:

5. That really was an exciting time |
|
It offset the profound disappointment from the previous January. All and all, I think things worked out better than I could have imagined. Joe is doing all the things he really loves, even if he rarely gets the recognition he deserves. That's okay. The VP rarely gets much attention. The president is in the limelight, as he should be.

12. I remember when My Perfect Plan was to have Joe be Prez, O be his VP so he |
|
could get his chops in, then in 2016 after Joe's second term :7, O would be a shoo-in to take over the role. I often find myself thinking that it just may have worked out for the best... One thing, I think Joe wouldn't have taken as much crap from the Republicans as Obama has, but then he's had years of going toe to toe with them.

14. Ah yes, that was my perfect plan as well |
|
Had that happened, some things might have been better and others worse. I think Obama as president has restored a lot of our credibility in the world and inspired so many people. Joe may have had a better grasp on Congress, but Obama has a better grasp on the public than anyone since probably JFK. AND I think Obama will turn out to be a far better president than Kennedy was.
We have a really squeaky clean administration. Haven't seen that in a long time. They can't find any scandals about Obama so they just make them up and Joe is SO clean that they have to manufacture gaffes.
Overall I'm happy with the way things turned out. I just hope Obama gets tough on health care reform. I keep hoping there is a strategy behind all this.

20. I remember you and I spent most of that day staring at a website that had |
|
a camera outside of Joe's house looking for activity.
How funny - but it was such an exciting day!
I totally agree with what you said about how Joe wouldn't take all this crap from the repugs. I think about that now and then how things might be better if it was reversed. But the truth is, Obama IS a rockstar throughout the world, and if Joe was President all the news would be about would be gaffes...so even tho Joe would've been a stronger President, things are the way they should be. I had heard that Biden didn't want Obama to go with healthcare reform yet, that he wanted Obama to stay focused on the economy. Interesting...

23. I remember that and I remember a DUer being upset because he lied. I think |
|
at that time he hadn't heard a decision, and maybe felt like it was going to go to someone else, or just that O hadn't come to a decision yet. Remember, he said he'd said to O that he wasn't going to change his 'brand' and maybe he assumed that would put him out of the running. I also was convinced that if he HAD heard something, he'd have said something like "I can't talk about it" -- never lie. That's how much I trust him!
Remember when he brought all the donuts or coffee for the reporters?

I hadn't heard that about Joe/Healthcare/Economy, but now that you say it I'm not surprised. He (even as VP nom) kept saying that he felt the economy was the number one problem we needed to address.

4. I'm in and out several times a day. |

I've been spending a lot of time lately tending a farm and zoo on Facebook...simple mindless entertainment. I also check in to Twitter. It's a good spot for breaking news, too. I've only got a couple of weeks of summer break left, and I tend to start pouting around this time. It's childish and stupid. I should be thankful I have a job I enjoy for the most part, but I love not working and all the free time it offers. Besides, it's tradition to be pouty each year. I've been doing it for 30 years, and I'd hate to disappoint all the people who avoid having too much contact with me late in August.
It really is good to see you back here. I hope you continue to feel better and stronger.

and have gotten hooked on the games at Facebook. I haven't gone the Zoo route, but I'm playing three farm games. Before that it was word games. I guess it is "simple and mindless", but it also provides good exercise for the brain and it's good filler. Have no idea what I'll get hooked on when this gets old.

I've been spending all my online time putting together an ebay store. It's really time consuming. I have 70 items in my store, and alot more to post. By the time I get done with that, I am usually sick of the computer.
I used to spend all day online, now I still do, except now I am making a few bucks doing it :)

11. Oooh -- I love eBay (well, the eBay in the days when I frequented it -- I understand |
|
it's changed a lot). When I was flush -- still living in Seattle before I moved to NC, every morning on the way to work I'd grab something or a couple, list them, and the money was great! A new addition to my PayPal balance almost every day -- so I wish you all the best! What's your username??

19. sillyjillies - and you'll never guess what my store logo is- |
|
a pink fish with lipstick (omg - is that the difference between an ebay mom and a fish? lipstick? :))
One of these days the person who designed that pink fish is going to come and find me.
Sounds like you did great while you were selling. Maybe when you are up to it, you can start selling again. Another place where I am selling - shhh - is Amazon. I pick up books at garage sales and sell them there. I made just under $75 last month selling books - not too shabby!!
Anyway - I do try to stop in several times a week.

|
I was just selling stuff I didn't want/need. I never actually purchased things to sell on ebay. And I'd probably get between $80 - $150 a month -- enough to pay for my lunches and mascara, or more often, other purchases on eBay!
Too funny -- the diff between ebay mom and a fish!

What sux about Ebay now is that they charge you to post, even if it doesn't sell, and they hit you again when it does sell. Typical corporate squeeze every penny out of everyone bs.

Not much activity on many days but I know this is the go-to place for info on Joe.
I go through spurts. Some days I spend hours on DU & then I'll go four days & not spend more than one hour in entirety. Often DU is more than I can bear. All the current hand wringing over the health care bill - there isn't even a single bill yet! And the speculation - is he playing chess or is he getting his ass kicked. We won't know until Congress resumes, so why waste time on it now?
It's good to see you back!

There are many days when all I do is skim the news headlines. I'm getting good at avoiding threads that will only irritate me. Brings back too many bad memories of the primaries. Once every four years is enough.

It's just that I've been out of it for so long, I'm reveling in the "newness" again. I am getting a little worn out about the healthcare nightmare, but I'm guessing once that's resolved, there'll be another hot button.
I wish there was MORE about Joe! I know he's doing a lot, but it doesn't get much coverage...
