Saw a clip of Joe today talking about health care -- key word TALKING. He
wasn't giving a speech. He stood at the podium and was looking at the people, sounding strident but conversational, it was very effective. He is just so good!

Not sure if it was from the Senior Citizens gathering or the insurance industry one.

1. I wish Obama would use Biden more in the health care debate.
Obama can give a good speech, but Biden speaks from the heart. That will always have more impact than a speech.

2. Agree. And those who really dislike Obama and won't even listen might give
Joe a chance.

3. I wonder if Clinton had won,
would the crazies have come out of the woodwork like they have with Obama? Would the hate & divisiveness be as intense as it is now?

My husband & I were talking about how divided the country is. He's 7 years older than me & remembers the 60's well. He said he thinks it's worse now than it was then & that the key difference now is the religious zealots.

It was good to see you on the veg forum!

4. Although the Clintons are so disliked by the Republicans, I don't think it would
have been quite as explosive. I really think that race has set a lot of these people off. Hate is irrational, but hate mixed with that fear is much more volatile, IMO.

I'd forgotten you're vegan until I saw you there.

I'm currently not, so I don't remember what I was doing there! I keep saying I'm going vegan again since I never felt better than when I was, but it's hard living with my brother since they're feeding me. :)

6. You do what you can, when you can.
You just keep taking care of yourself & getting better!

I'm fortunate to live in an area that has several health food stores that offer lots of vegan alternatives - like Tofutti Sour Supreme. I can't imagine my home made green chile burritos without sour cream on them! :9

Over the past five years, I've found that regular exercise makes the biggest difference in how I feel. Which is too bad, cuz I hate to exercise! I really have to enforce discipline to get off my ass & move. But, I've been on a roll this summer & I'm now down 25 pounds & feeling & sleeping soooooo much better. Now if I can just maintain. ~sigh. Honestly, I can put on five pounds in a couple of days but it takes two weeks to get it off. :eyes:

7. We have some wonderful vegan stores and restrauants here -- and someday
I'll be able to take advantage of them again! Looking forward to it.

I'm with you on the exercise. A couple of months ago I just started walking to the end of the block and back, then doing it twice a day, then going further -- and I loved it! Early in the morning, and late at night, it was dreamy. Then I just stopped and I'll be damned if I can get my ass out that door again. :7

8. I'm a vegetarian, but never went vegan
I really like my dairy. My daughter-in-law went vegan, but it is very time-consuming and I don't have much energy or inclination to put a lot of effort into food these days. When I was younger, I did, but now I just eat because I'm hungry.
