Nice to see him being noticed by the media as more than a "joke". I wonder if this might not be intentional on the part of the administration. Perhaps they need some attention to be diverted from Obama and they might want Biden's views on Afghanistan to be publicized, as the president could be leaning in his direction.

They are very disciplined and strategic about everything. The Newsweek article showed how Obama used Joe to express a dissenting viewpoint, so Obama could remain detached and objective, at least in appearance.
