My nephew left for Afghanistan this week. |
|
He's a marine. He's been to Iraq 4 times, but this time he didn't want to go.
I have such mixed feelings about sending more troops there. Normally I would feel like NO WAY - but this time I want more troops there to protect him.
He just got engaged. She's in the army, but stationed in Korea.
I just hope he has some guardian angels with him at all times. He's had a hard life and is such a great person, I just hope and pray he makes it thru this in one piece. He'll be deployed for a year :(
Feeling really sad....

4 tours in Iraq already and now Afghanistan? How much can these soldiers take? It is unprecedented and shameful what is being done to these young people.
I feel your sadness.

We seem to have built that kind of group and we've all vented at one time or other. Kind of funny. Who would have thought politics would have gotten so intimate and personal? Its been an interesting and very unexpected journey.

4. I think it's criminal that we have a war without a draft. |
|
I realize the Cheney's & Limbaugh's will always manage a way out, but I think of people like my friend Laurie, who has three children & no care or concern, at all, about the wars we are waging, simply because her children are safe from being called. I also read that military recruitment is up, probably due to the extremely poor economy.
One of my favorite bumper stickers is this one:
Support the Troops Send Back Your Tax Cut
I will hold your dear nephew in my thoughts & hope for his safe return. It's a national shame, what we are asking of these young people.

|

5. This is just so wrong! I'm so hoping Obama gets them all out of there fast! |
|
Do you think he'll resign from the Corps when he returns this time?
I wish him a safe journey, and please let us know how he's doing!
