Hello all!
:hi:

I don't know if anyone here remembers me, I used to post a little on JB group (love that Joe). I took a LONG break from DU (the negativity and lack of civility got to me, not from you guys of course). Plus, I've always been a lurker and a little shy. I've been busy with work, graduate school and teenagers...and a husband, who having no other job opportunity became an over the road trucker. I've learned that can be a very tough life....

Anyway, I did my donation (Remote Area Medical Foundation Day - Yippy!!) and did a sob story in GD. If anyone has some advise, I'd be grateful.

Hopefully I'll start to poke my head in again, now and then.

Susan

1. Hi!
None of us are as active at DU as we used to be, but most of us pop back in here from time to time. We seem to have created a bond that goes beyond politics and of course, we have to comment on any VP news.

I'm so sorry things have been rough for you and your family. This past year has been one of the worst I've seen for most of the people I know, but I knew things would get worse before they got better. It is amazing how much damage eight years of republican rule can cause.

I haven't checked out your story yet. Just wanted to say "hi" first!

Welcome back.

3. Hi Susan - I do remember you as a friendly Biden fan
Most of us aren't here as often as last year, but we all seem to wander through.

I'm very thankful to be holding on financially but scared to have no cushion.

Off to read your post....

4. Thanks!
To all who kicked my thread a little...

Just talked to my SIL, Bridgett and they started her on chemo this week which means it has spread to soft tissue. Her pain is really bad, I wish I could make it stop.

5. Oh Susan, I am so sorry to hear that :(
Hopefully they will get her a morphine pump for the pain. Those seem to help - or maybe you could sneak in some pot for her, that's suppose to be the best for chemo pain. It's soooo hard to watch a loved one suffer.

6. Morphine
She is on a morphine pump already...it is loosing its effectiveness. Plus, she hates being out of it all the time. Her brother and I are trying to talk her into some MM, but it is not legal in her state and she is scared to try it (someone might take her kids - her words not mine). We are trying to tell her... no one will find out we promise and it will ease her pain, sickness and give her some appetite back.

Don't get me started on why this country denies this type of relief to dying people....

7. When someone on my father's side of the family was terminally ill
from cancer, the husband brought it in to the hospital and told the nurses to shove it if they tried to stop him.
We are talking about the 70's or 80's - sadly it's probably harder to do that now - it's insane how a small group of people can control this country.

You would think by now there was something they could do to ease the pain :(
