Beau
I'm wondering if what happened in Mass will have any impact on his decision to run or not for his dad's seat.

If this really is an anti-Washington year, and he's the son of the Vice President...

Personally, as much as I LOVE Joe, I think Beau would be an even better Senator than his dad - same big heart, with more discipline.

funny, as I am typing this, some repuke talking head brought up the same topic...

What do you guys think?

1. I think Beau's the real deal. No way the same thing happens in DE.

3. I have a story you guys will like about this very subject
It was Todd something, that republican talking head, and it was on Chris Matthews.
I caught the rerun - I usually have msnbc on when I'm home, more as background noise, only halfway paying attention....

anyway - Todd started talking about how DE was the race to watch now, blah blah blah, and Matthews immediately got DEFENSIVE!
He said - Beau just got back from Iraq and he (todd) shouldn't be saying that and then he raised his voice a little and said - You can't ever call the Bidens uppidity because they're not. Whoa! I'm glad I caught the rerun. I don't recall Matthews ever being defensive like that before.

5. Oh that is SO cool
I had MSNBC on as background noise as well, but I missed that. Matthews really likes Joe a lot, but he rarely talks about him. He nailed it when he said the Bidens weren't uppidity.

9. I think Matthews has always liked Joe a lot. And he's right on about what he
said. I hate Chuck Todd.

10. I don't like Chuck Todd either
I think the Todd here is that republican strategist who appears frequently on Hardball. He's not too awful for a republican. He's almost human!

11. Oh. I was wondering why Jill was referring to him as a republican! Although
at times, one wonders...

12. Chuck Todd
once said his family was conservative, but he was more of a liberal. I think his problem is he tries too hard and thinks he's earning points by asking so-called tough questions, but it often comes across as rude and contentious.

I think the strategist's name is Todd Harris.

13. Yep that's the one.
I think I'm the only one on DU that likes Chuck Todd. I really like his new show in the morning.

He can be an ass sometimes, but I don't know.... I just like to listen to him, he always seems to have the inside scoop.
I think I started liking him when he used to do First Read.

14. I used to like him,
but then when Obama became president, Todd asked some really stupid questions. He was so much better at election analysis.

6. I agree
that Beau could end up being a better senator than his dad. He is older and more experienced than Joe was when he took office and like you said, he appears more disciplined.

I think Coakley lost because she ran an awful campaign and she has a rather cold, distant personality. She isn't a natural politician and not a good substitute for Kennedy. The loss in MA could be a good thing, as now the Dems will hopefully be more diligent about the mid-terms and they have plenty of time to plan their strategy for November. Also, now the Senate has to quit trying to get a majority of 60 votes for every bill and start to play some political Hardball.

7. Pat - I hope your right.
I just worry that Obama and Co. didn't get the message. But it is true, Lieberman lost alot of clout last nite - it's no longer about the 60th vote.

Taking a deep breath, and anxiously awaiting to hear what Obama says during the State of the Union.

8. God I hope they get it
The first year of any presidency is difficult and they learn from their mistakes. I hope that will be true with this administration.

Can't wait for Lieberman to come up for re-election. That will be a race to watch, but the scumbag probably will just retire and deprive us of some great entertainment.
