1. i LOVE him - he was just interviewed on msnbc - and he brought his grandkids!!!! |
|
What a sweetheart. He said that Maisy got to meet alot of the athletes - that some of the athletes wanted to have their pic taken with Joe and he told them only if they said hi to his granddaughter because she was a big fan.
I want Joe to adopt me.

2. They were interviewed and they were so cute! |

The opening ceremony was beautiful, classy and LONG...but they were both so excited afterwards, especially Joe when he was talking about his granddaughter being in a picture with Shaun White!
What a refreshing change from Shrub & Shooter!

:hi:
I agree about the opening ceremony. Canada seems like such a great country. They have so many things going for them.

6. Thanks for the welcome! |

Biden's a good guy. I get so mad when he's accused of making gaffes....he's a regular guy who tells it like it is. People complain about politicians being liars and giving evasive answers, but then if he says what's on his mind, he gets a hard time. Not fair!
I really like seeing him in casual situations. He was a hoot at the Little League World Series and both he and Jill were adorable last night. I hope we'll be seeing more of them throughout the rest of the games!

7. I think he's heading back to DC, at least that the impression I got when he |

said "maybe it will snow some more and I won't be able to go back" or something like that.
And let me extend another very warm welcome! :hi:

You guys are swell!!! :)
Well, I hope he makes it back up there. He really seems to get such a kick out of whatever's going on wherever he goes. How cool would it be to wind up next to him at some sort of sporting event?

9. I was wrong -- he'll be there "through the weekend". His interview on |
|
Meet the Press will be from Vancouver tomorrow. Hopefully a couple of the events he and Jill want to attend will take place before their return, and if so, maybe they'll grab him for a comment. We all know Joe never shied away from a microphone. :7

11. My neighbors! Is the competition already over? I just watched the first |
|
qualifying 'heats' and watching Apolo was breathtaking.
We're getting taped stuff -- nothing live -- and I don't know what else has REALLY transpired! Are you on the East Coast, getting live reports?
Hey! I just re-read your post -- SILVER and BRONZE???? No Gold? :(

but the races were exciting as hell!! Watch it however you can, you won't be disappointed! I was actually yelling at the TV, cheering them on!!
Yes, I'm on the east coast in the snowy mountains of NJ.
It's almost 12:45 here and they're showing the women's speedskating now. I've been up since 6:30 this morning, but can't go to sleep because I don't want to miss anything! Our women did a great job with the moguls and I'll keep those results to myself because I don't want to spoil it for you.

13. I saw some of the moguls -- the girl/woman from the US who didn't do too |
|
well last time (they said) was amazing! I learned from the announcers what is considered optimal and I could tell the difference between her and those who came after her.
I'm so sad about no gold -- but Apolo still broke the # of medals record, right? And I'm so happy that J.R. got a medal. Am I correct in thinking there will be other races for these guys?
I just saw the second qualifying round and it's too bad no Canadian made it.
I think luge is starting now, then they'll be back to the speedskating.
I know what you mean about not wanting to miss anything! But as I said here, it's almost like they show highlight films, so in essence, I've already missed EVERYthing!!
Keep warm!

14. Thanks...it IS a little chilly here tonight! |

Women's 3000 meter speedskating relay's on now. Talk about chaos! I really don't know how these skaters do it. To be going so fast, so close to each other, then having all those people on the ice for the relay...it's crazy!!! Our women have qualified for the finals!!
It seems like even the live broadcast is highlights, like they only show certain athletes or certain teams. I could be wrong, but when I was a kid it seemed that the coverage was more in depth, that they didn't show just a few competitors and then cut away to something else. I can't stand all the jumping back & forth between events. Remember when ABC had the Olympics a few decades ago? Their coverage was on ONE CHANNEL, but they seemed to do a better job of covering all the events from beginning to end. I'd like to see EVERYONE compete, show each event from start to finish. Instead of the crime shows on MSNBC, show the competition. Same with USA and CNBC.
An amazing race or performance is the coolest thing to watch, regardless of the athlete's country of origin. I enjoy seeing all the winners celebrate and how proud they are to stand on the podium to get their medal. Like that Amman kid who won in the ski jumping...he's the cutest little thing and a real hoot!!

nailed it. What an amazing sport - they are literally flying thru the air. Must be such an adrenaline rush - above and beyond the competition.
That's about all I caught today. I was hoping to watch more of it this afternoon, but when I turned it on it was local programming... which was pretty interesting. It was about haunted hotels & buildings in Arizona (where I'm at).

16. Okay -- I watched the race where Apolo and J.R. came in silver and bronze -- |
|
It looked like something off of a highlight reel that will be showed repeatedly. We all thought it was a done deal -- they were crowding Apolo out, then wham -- the two Koreans went flying! It sure was exciting!
I fell asleep after that so don't know who won the women's mogul thing -- was it Hannah?
