3. It's all Obama's fault. Seriously.
Janet Napolitano VETOED all this crap. She held the record for the most vetoes of any Governor. Now you know why.

The state legislator is now trying to pass a bill to require all Presidential Candidates to show their birth certificate before they can be put on the ballot in Az.

4. I remember you warning how bad it would get
when Napolitano left AZ. I had no idea it would be THIS bad. There must be some sane people left in your state.

5. You know what part of the problem is in Arizona?
Mormons. I'm not a Mormon basher by any means, I have known alot of wonderful people that are Mormon.

But - one thing about Mormons is they support each other. They go to Mormon doctors, dentists, lawyers, bankers...on and on. If you're a Mormon business person in Arizona, you are practically guaranteed to be successful.
And if one - or in this case, several, happens to be a politician - it doesn't matter how batshit crazy they may be, the Mormons will get out the vote for their candidate.

Russell Pearce is a total psycho. He wants to cut funding to schools, cut programs for the disabled (hits home for my girl), lots of crap like that. This immigration bill is his baby. And yes, he is Mormon.

7. It's even worse than mutual support....
Edited on Fri Apr-23-10 10:25 PM by WheelWalker
I was involved in representing a couple that crossed a decision (i.e., didn't tow the line) of the hierarchy of the "Stake" I think you call it. They had been in the leadership, themselves, and were ultimately not just shunned, but excommunicated, driven from business and from their community - because they wanted to take an independent stand with a position contrary to the establishment. There is a reason why there is "solidarity" and that's because if one wavers at all, or even expresses dissatisfaction with the party line, there are crushing social, economic and religious consequences to bear. That is the insight into that community I gleaned from my experience in that case. Sadly, while they are strongly supportive of family and mutually supportive of each other, their is a price to pay for non-conformity. Diversity of thought and action is not tolerated, but crushed. I realize that's a generalization, but I was able to see deeply into the culture in working that case.

ON EDIT: Parenthetically, our clients' business was a brick & mortar firearms dealership. For whatever that adds.

8. Sounds very similar to 'plain old' repugs,
the way they do business. I suppose its historically-based, for Mormons.

ON EDIT: Not that I know squat about diagnosing mental illness or personality disorders.

12. I had a friend,
who was also my boss. He had been excommunicated from LDS because he questioned doctrine. The only Mormons I can recall were actually ex-Mormons.
