Caracas, May 20 (Prensa Latina) With a decision by President Hugo Chavez to decree a state of emergency in Tachira, the Venezuelan government increases on Friday the action in nine states to alleviate damages caused by recent rains in the latest weeks.
The statesman posted on his Twitter account on Thursday night the measure for another 90 days in the western territory, which includes the exceptional situation recently postponed in Falcon, Merida, Miranda, Nueva Esparta, Trujillo, Zulia, Vargas and the Distrito Capital.
Interior Minister Tareck el Aissami stated that some 64 tons of food for communities isolated by rains will arrive in today to that state. According to authorities' preliminary reports, no human losses were reported, but important material damages.
Since late 2010, a part of the Venezuelan government suffers the impact of rains, which have left more than 130,000 victims.
