The standard food basket hit USD 353 in June, a 2.13% increase compared to May.
Through June, the standard food basket has increased by 10.74%, compared to 16.9% in the same period in 2010, reported the National Statistics Institute (INE).
INE added that "based on the analysis of the value of the standard food basket, we observed that if an average family comprising 5.2 persons purchases the food basket in establishments other than (state-run) Bicentennial, Pdval and Mercal groceries and supermarkets, it would cost USD 387.9, which is 9.87% higher)."
