Not really activism, but I know I can get an answer here. |

I used to post fairly regularly but have been away for a while. I know DU is the right place to get me started.
Can anyone recommend an organization for parents of gay teens? I've found my son is at least curious and want to be the best parent possible while he is discovering who he is. Just to clarify, I'm looking for help supporting him, not for me. Support geared toward fathers-sons is ideal.
There's a pflag chapter in our area. Any experience with them specifically?
Thanks in advance and PM is fine. ok_cpu.

1. PFLAG is a good place to start. |
|
They have a variety of services, depending on funding and support. They also have support groups for teens. I would start with them. You may want to explore the local universities for other groups which may be in your area.
The best thing you can do is listen! You sound like you are on the right path; you have a very lucky son!
If you have questions, please ask, here or privately. I would also suggest popping over to the GLBT group because that is not limited to people who donate to the site and there are some very good folks there who aren't able to donate, but are a font of information.

Believe it or not, I completely missed the GLBT group. Thanks for the reply and the heads up.
PFLAG will be one of my next stops. And the universities are a good idea. There are several around.
Thanks again.
