http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/politics/state_politics/brewer-vetoes-birther-bill-guns-on-campus-4-18-2011 Something is all too strange when BREWER appears to be the voice of semi reason. I am shocked and quite pleased at the same time.

5. Thanks for the link. I just found a link that said the same thing... |
|
that she also vetoed a gun bill! Maybe it has something to do with Gabby Giffords and the way Obama went to AZ and spoke about her. They were all united.

7. Her, McCain and some other Arizona Reps seemed to tone their crazy shit down a bit after Tuscon. |
|
I'm not saying they did a 180, but some of them were affected enough by the event to seem to want to bring the nonsense down a few notches.

14. I think it's more like Brewer doesn't have to run for reelection anytime soon |
|
No need to be far right crazy and shoot yourself and your state and party in the foot if you aren't running in an election for the next couple of years.
After all, Brewer was willing to sign that anti-immigrant bill that destroyed her party's bridges with Hispanics in the state short and long term (Republicans in AZ used to win around 40% of the Hispanic vote before that, which was the GOP's best nationwide performance with Hispanics). That bill will hurt her party for many years to come, but hey, it got her reelected.

13. The REAL reason she vetoed: |
|
Somebody, possibly the Attorney General of Arizona, sat Ms. Brewer down and carefully explained something to her...
There are two possibilities after President Obama submits his certification:
1) It will take all of 5 seconds for the Secretary of State to certify President Obama. The teabaggers, her base, will then vilify and crucify her for this. The State of Arizona will then be deluged--and I mean deluged, by birther lawsuits it will be obligated to defend. 2) The Sec of State of AZ will not certify. It will take President Obama all of 15 minutes to obtain a TRO in Federal Court based on either the Supremacy clause, or the Full Faith and Credit Clause. Deluge of birther lawsuits that Arizona will have to defend.
It's the money--

Can you imagine the line at the courthouse before and after certification???
She's not so stupid she can't listen to counsel.

But I don't think they're smart enough to follow the steps or know of the steps to override.

The only thing better now would to see the legislature override her veto. Would love to see the Republicans eat each other alive.
