It's not for nothing that Herman Cain walks round with a perpetual smirk on his face, regardless of the upheavels that surround him. The fact is that he is not and never really was running for president. As Chris Matthews said recently, Cain is basically the biggest lobbyist in town. He is trying to gain influence in Washington as well as sell his book. And that's it. So is Cain mad? No, not at all. He knows exactly what he's doing. The joke is on those elements of the Republican party and conservative media who are actually taking him seriously as a candidate.
