Cain lost ground tonight; Perry and Gingrich gained |
|
Cain was not called on much and what he said was unmemorable. It wasn't crazy or interesting enough to be remembered. Perry made a few incoherent statements and a few that made some sense (though I would disagree with them) and that might appeal to the right wing base. Gingrich also probably did well with the base and was a bit less pompous than usual. I also think Romney did quite well.

working with the generals in the war zone of our border. Seemed quite over the top to me.

8. My guess is that his advisers told him to go big on war. The GOP primary voter loves war. |

2. Gingrich may be playing for VP with Romney |

He seemed to be working towards that outcome, imo.

4. Cain just doesn't have the command of the issues. |
|
He is not educated enough on the office of the Presidency to be President.

It was the same old pattern of not really answering the questions, blaming everything on Obama, and showing just how little most of the really know about reality! Mitt probably cam out on top, which is not saying much with the bunch of clowns on stage. The only think I can say about Cain is he didn't use 999 to answer every question! In all it was petty lame, and tame. I like it when someone on stage decides to take on the current top poller, whoever that may be!

7. I watched as much as I could stomach |

(About 20 minutes worth.) I thought Romney and Huntsman were best only because the others were such buffoons. Gingrich is bright, but he sounds like an insect. Paul is principled, but he's about as eloquent as Don Knotts on Andy Griffith. Perry is Bush light; he's a buffoon, who relies on his personality, nothing else. Santorum seems like a high school student, eager but no gravitas. Bachmann seemed desperate. Huntsman and Romney are both incredibly bland, they should be tv anchorpersons.

Perry said, "This is war. That's what happens in war. I'm for using the techniques, not torture, but using those techniques that we know will extract the information to save young Americans' lives -- and will be for it until I die."
As for Gingrich, what a pompous asshole. He's a former House speaker campaigning for president who calls for the imprisonment of opposition political leaders. Isn't this the kind of thing that comes out of dictatorships? And his comment about OWS - another asshole statement: "We have had a strain of hostility to free enterprise and frankly, a strain of hostility to classic America starting in our academic institutions and spreading across this country and I regard the Wall Street protesters as a natural outcome of a bad education system teaching them really dumb ideas."
