| Michele Bachmann on Fallon's show.... |
|
I'm a bit disgusted by how lightly the issue of her on the show is being taken. Don't get me wrong from the left are saying it was off but in a very off handed way. I'm not getting major sincerity from their dislike of Fallon's actions. Now I find Bachmann to be a liar and definitely someone who is a racist and makes no apologies for her outrageous comments. However I know for a fact that if the same action was done against HRC or any woman on the D side there would be uproar on this site for days on end. I also recognize this is not an R site.
But I'm a bit appalled by the sexism and disrespect that was exhibited on the show was actually praised and/or, shockingly enough for me, found amusing to people on the left. I was truly insulted and I really dislike that woman. But it just goes to show the lack of respect women in general have --- it would seem political ideology indirectly permits sexist actions. Says a lot about the dehumanization of people---particularly by people who call themselves Liberals.

Would you have said the same if some right wing clown did that to HRC?! Doubtful

I don't agree with her and as I said...she's a bonafide racist. But we have to show a better standing. We're no better than them when we go down to their level. And the music was uncalled for and was 100% sexist.

It has nothing to do with ideology. Down deep at her core, "things rank and gross possess her merely".

However, there are right wingers who feel the same and for their own reasons about HRC or Michelle Obama---would you have been okay if the same treatment was done to them if they went on Hannity's show or another right wing show? I sincerely doubt you would and yet you defend the actions when it comes to this woman. I'm shocked to read so many people defending these actions. They are sexist. We are in a modern era...it doesn't matter what she does...but I would think we'd show a different standing where we remove ourselves from sexism in any form.
Yet you defend it. Shit like this makes me sick.

As far as her entrance music, the show should not have done that.
However, I heard she didn't say anything about it until the next day (obviously after someone told her the lyrics of the entrance music). If she was so appalled by it, shouldn't she have said something right then and there. The fact is, she didn't know she was being insulted until someone told her she was and then she decided to make a big stink about it.

She probably didn't make out the lyrics to the song right then and there. I know I can tune out background noise when I am with people and focusing on the person I'm dealing with. So I don't see what the timing has to do with anything. Secondly, this has nothing to do with Michele Bachmann's response to the situation.
This has to do with OUR response to it and the mere fact that so many on this thread are defending sexist behaviour. It's not about whether she was insulted or not---it's the fact so many "LIBERALS" choose/chose to ignore the sexism and mistreatment for their own amusement. It's appalling behaviour on our part.
Other than the ones who found the actions disgusting from the start---most people are defending this. I don't even want to know what kinds of excuses would be made in regards to race, since gender is such a non-issue because of personal feelings towards a person.

| 13. Your statement is one of the worst I've read. I could see someone saying... |
|
Herman Cain should get used to being called "the N word" if he wants to be President. To you, the B word may not be a big deal. But it is for many women. It's a mark of a sexist society. Don't get me wrong...there have been women who have turned my craw to that level like Angel when she publicly advocated that women who are pregnant by rape should be forced to have the child. But I have felt disgusting and apologetic when I even thought that. Because I let my personal feelings dehumanize this person and allowed myself to push a sexist agenda---and I'm female. And I've been making a concerted effort to go beyond that. I think we should see that this is the same of the same. Our personal feelings on the woman shouldn't deter from the fact she's a human and that calling her that is just wrong.

did they sing the words? No , they did not.
Look at what the president has been called- has he gotten all up in arms and 'oh poor me everyone is picking on me?' No, he has not. She shouldn't either.

| 17. But she doesn't lie NEARLY as much as the others! |
|
Cain, Gingrich, and Romney run rings around Bachmann when it comes to lies. When Bachmann says something crazy or wrong that she truly believes, that is not actually a "lie". That is being "misguided and misinformed". She is wrong in her policies (by my standards) on just about every issue, but it is difficult to argue that she is inconsistent or insincere, like the other leading candidates. She mischaracterizes Obama frequently, but again the others are way, WAY out in front for dishonesty and dissembling. (Seen the latest Romney ad?)
We got all upset when Cain said "Princess Nancy", yet we defend to the death our right to publicly insult this woman. What's wrong with us? Are we hypocrites like the wingnuts? They do this all the time. Looks like we do too. How sad.

It was not cute, it was not funny, it was not interesting. Whoever planned the song to be included, whoever greenlighted it, and the band that played it were wrong to participate in the action.

It does appear, often, that sexism is still very much alive and well in this country.
I totally disagree with Bachmann's policies and with the notion that she could ever be president, but that is no excuse for that type of treatment.

I thought Dems were above implying it was okay for women (regardless of their political party) to be called bitches. Or at least get a song played implying that one was, in fact, a bitch.
