| 2. We used to spend 12 billion per month. |
|
6 billion per year is a rounding error compared to that.

| 6. i know, right! $6 billion is all we spend on non-medical science research thru the NSF |
|
It's also the amount that's slated to be spent in 2012 on US Disaster relief. PEANUTS!
The Army Corps of Engineers only gets $4.6 billion in next year's budget -- wtf!
The entire Environmental Protection Agency operates on just $9 billion.
So, lots of people give a shit. An embassy isn't worth $6 billion. And, until we spend twice or three times that on Science funding, then yes, it's a hell of a lot of money.

I never made the argument that we shouldn't/couldn't fund other programs with more money than they have been getting. I agree with you on that. So you can have that little strawman back to go bloviate all over someone else with. Thats an unnecessary argument to have with me.
In the grand scheme of the typical budget, 6 billion is fractional. You can't refute that. Its a mathematically sound observation.
