| What States in the General Election Could Newt Win? |
|
First, I just cannot see any deep Blue state flipping for Newt. I do see him carrying the Southern deep red states (except for N.C.) and the deep red plain states like UT, MT, and Idaho.
That leaves the battleground states of Penn, VA, Florida, OH, AZ, and MO.
Bottom line, Obama would have a gigantic advantage in the Electoral Vote map.

| 4. I don't think Newt will be the nom, but if so, a lot could depend on his running mate. |

If he picked say, Rubio, or Haley (SC - a poss vp hunch I've had for a while, but prob better for Romney), or even Romney as a running mate, each could make a huge difference in states he may pick up.
I think NC and VA are tossups as best with any running mate. Probably AZ too.
MO will be tight no matter what.
I think FL would be gone with a Gingrich/Rubio ticket.
OH I see as safe with Gingrich as the nom, probably not so with Romney as the nom, tho.
Thing with Gingrich, if he does get the nomination, he has been calling for lengthy debates with Obama like the Lincoln/Douglas debates. I'm not sure how those would go, and I can't see a good reason for Obama declining.
But I'm feeling strongly that Romney, not Gingrich, will be the nom. And if Romney picks a Rubio or a Nikki Haley, I think they might have a real shot.
I'm also concerned with the House and Senate. We could be looking and repubs controlling the WH and both houses.

| 5. The "big six" states of California, Texas, New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio count most |
|
when it comes to presidential elections. Win four of the six and you win the presidency. The remaining states typically don't matter unless there's a tie in the "big six."

win it in the primary (which is now just a beauty contest) as he did not get on the ballot here.

Americans are one big sucker for AUTHORITARIANS like Newt...He speaks like he knows what he is talking about & that would be enough considering the current economic situation we find ourselves in! SCARY!

| 10. I'm not so sure that he would win in Montana. |
|
They would like him in Utah, and they would crown him King of the Koch Suckers in Idaho, but generally speaking, the people of Montana don't like philandering old guys and Newt is 68 years old.
