I posted most of this on dain bramaged's thread, but think it warrants its own OP, too.
An author of a Daily Beast article claims that Romney set out to get booed at the NAACP as a pander to his "white" base.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/07/12/michael-tomasky-on-mitt-romney-the-race-baiter-at-the-naacp.htmlI put "white" within quotation marks because the author of the article used the term "white." However, getting booed while addressing people at the NAACP is not a pander to whites.
I cannot imagine, for example, that being booed while speaking at the NAACP would help Romney win over Bernie Sanders. Setting out to get booed as the NAACP might be a pander to anti-black racists of any hue, though.
Not saying that Romney did set out to be booed. Just saying the author of the Daily Beast article at the above link said it
See also this New York Magazine article on Romney's saying that the NAACP wants "free stuff" before Romney even went to the NAACP.
http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2012/07/romney-accused-of-... Also, after he got booed, Romney made the "free stuff" comment again.

ETA: Just heard on the TODAY show (and saw the clip) that the e audience at Romney's NAACP speech gave him a standing ovation at the end of the speech!
