Not all gun owners are equal... |
|
When people start buying AR-15's and semi-automatic weapons, and tear gas, and bullet-proof vests, and banana clips, it seems to me they are the people you should keep your eye on. It has little to do with the 2nd Amendment. It has much to with the health and welfare of everyone else.
I have no problem with background checks on these people. It doesn't automatically mean they are going to go and do something crazy but the odds are greater with one of these nuts than with the general population of gun owners.
In my opinion, the NRA should act responsibly and take the lead on this issue but I will not hold my breath. It is too hot of a political issue and would cause a lot of people to lose a lot of money.
It's not that difficult to see that these types of weapons are of little use to anyone except to kill innocent people. If you think you can hoard enough ammo and guns to fight the US Government or even the State National Guard, then you are probably too dumb to own a gun in the first place.

1. Isn't it about how many you can take out on the way out? |

I figure that's why these guys arm-up. They know they're going out, and freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose.

I own a few firearms and enjoy target shooting, but can't stand most other gun owners. I've seen a lot of conservatives show up at the rifle range all decked out like the Colorado shooter. They're not there target shooting, they're "training". For what, God only knows. Try lurking at a few assault weapon online forums and you'll see how some of these people think and why I can't stand being around them. So yes, you're right, not all gun owners are equal. But 98% of them are the same.

3. Hold on to yourself. I have had passing thoughts of learning to use a firearm. |

I may be finally coming around to the argument that, when everyone starts shooting up this country, the only who will not be armed will be those who believe in traditional Democratic principles (formerly known simply as "Democrats", now known to the center right as "liberal retards.")
And you know that the government will target us first, joined by everyone else who owns a firearm.
I have not decided yet, but I even surprised myself the first time it occurred to me.
