(As many suspected) Sikh temple shooter was white-supremacist group member

(CBS/AP) OAK CREEK, Wis. - The gunman who killed six people at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin before being shot to death by police was identified Monday as a 40-year-old Army veteran and former leader of a white supremacist heavy metal band.

Wade Michael Page strode into the temple carrying a 9mm handgun and multiple magazines of ammunition and opened fire without saying a word, authorities said.

Page, who joined the Army in 1992 and was discharged in 1998, was described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a "frustrated neo-Nazi" who was active in the obscure underworld of white supremacist music.

As a psyops specialist, Page would have trained to host public meetings between locals and American forces, use leaflet campaigns in a conflict zone or use loudspeakers to communicate with enemy soldiers.

Hero cop Lt Brian Murphy, was shot many times, and sent arriving support into the temple instead of attending to him

1. Does the military try to screen for potentially homicidal bigotry?
It is no accident that people, sane or sick, seek out the professions they do.

I am not saying, by any stretch, that everyone in the military is sick. I am saying only that I can certainly see why a neo nazi would have an affinity for seeking a job with the military, or with any profession that pays him to carry a gun and gives him authority over others, including the authority to use the gun on others.

my bro said, "how nice of them to keep an eye on him from time to time with the military psychological ops background he had, just to make sure he didn't go off the rails and join up with militias or nazi-sympathizers".

3. About psyops in general...
I never had any thought that when I set up the CIA that it would be injected into peacetime cloak and dagger operations. Some of the complications and embarrassment I think we have experienced are in part attributable to the fact that this quiet intelligence arm of the President has been so removed from its intended role that it is being interpreted as a symbol of sinister and mysterious foreign intrigue—and a subject for cold war enemy propaganda.

With all the nonsense put out by Communist propaganda about "Yankee imperialism," "exploitive capitalism," "war-mongering," "monopolists," in their name-calling assault on the West, the last thing we needed was for the CIA to be seized upon as something akin to a subverting influence in the affairs of other people.

I well knew the first temporary director of the CIA, Adm. Souers, and the later permanent directors of the CIA, Gen. Hoyt Vandenberg and Allen Dulles. These were men of the highest character, patriotism and integrity—and I assume this is true of all those who continue in charge.

But there are now some searching questions that need to be answered. I, therefore, would like to see the CIA be restored to its original assignment as the intelligence arm of the President, and that whatever else it can properly perform in that special field—and that its operational duties be terminated or properly used elsewhere.

Harry Truman, explaining why he had set up the CIA originally, why he he thought things had gone wrong and what he thought should be done about it.

Imagine, a politician who saw his mistakes so quickly--and could admit them. Gee, things were great in ancient times, weren't they?
