Swing States 2008 and 2012 |
|
For 2012, Politico puts Obama at 277 electoral votes and Romney at 260. However, a good number of the states seem to be within the margin of error, so anything is possible.
Swing states 2008
Colorado..........9 electoral votes Obama in 2008; Romney slightly ahead now
Florida...........29 electoral votes (most electoral votes for any swing state) Obama in 2008; Romney slightly ahead now
Indiana...........11 electoral votes Obama in 2008 (McCain was predicted); not a swing state in 2012--now-solidly Romney
Missouri..........11 electoral votes McCain won narrowly in 2008; not a swing state in 2012--solidly Romney now
Nevada............5 electoral votes Obama in 2008; Obama leading now by about 3 points
New Hampshire.....4 electoral votes Obama in 2008; Romney slightly ahead now (Romney lives there now.)
New Mexico........5 electoral votes Obama in 2008; not a swing state in 2012--now solidly Obama
North Carolina....15 electoral votes Obama in 2008; Romney almost six points ahead now (so much for holding the convention there?)
Ohio........... 18 electoral votes Obama in 2008; Obama slightly ahead now (Obama really should get Ohio because of the GM bailout.)
Pennsylvania......21 electoral votes Obama in 2008; not a swing state in 2012--now solidly Obama (despite Repub. Governor now)
Virginia..........13 electoral votes Obama in 2008; seems tied now, but Politico gives it to Romney without explanation.
