Was this the final straw for McConnell and the Republican Senate leadership

Two years ago I wrote an article for a Korean newspaper detailing who I thought were the five biggest losers in the 2010 election. One of them that was on my list was Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina (#3). I included him because I felt his interference had cost the Republicans victories in Nevada, Delaware, and though Murkowski won in Alaska, had seriously pissed her off and apparently had agitated both Snowe and Collins of Maine.

This cycle he was out actively supporting more uber right wingers in Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota and Nebraska. The end result, they lost at least two states they should have won and his candidate in Missouri not only shot himself in the foot, but most likely hurt other Republicans running around the country.

He has hinted that he would support a right winger running against his co-Senator from South Carolina, Lindsay Graham

He had already said he was not running for re-election in 2016, so there was no issue there.

So my questions is, "Is he leaving because he wants the job or have the Republican senators finally just tired of him and his antics?" Has he wounded himself so badly in the eyes of his fellow Republican senators that he can see the handwriting on the wall? That in his final years he will have little-to-no influence outside of a circle of about five senators.

And the Heritage Foundation is not influence-less.

So, I don't know if this is being kicked upstairs or not, but, on the face of it, I don't consider this suffering.

2. I don't disagree

I'm just curious as whether they have finally tired of the man that has systematically undercut every chance they've had of taking back the senate.
As far as I'm concerned, he needs to stay once more election cycle and work his magic again. He can partner with Rove and Morris

Just like Glenn Beck became a distraction once people began to call out his BS and Ailes showed him the Door.

So they throw us a Bone. There are plenty of other actors waiting in the wings for their chance to die. DeMint gets put out to Pasture with a cushy job, so he won't make waves. If he does good works for them, perhaps they will rehabilitate him, once things die down.

Same with Karl Rove, except, there's a bit of a Money problem. Not a big deal, since a lot of it went to media outlets that the Boys control. Think of it as a creative way to launder Money.

5. Delusions Of Grandeur

He thinks he's a power broker, the new Rove, despite the fact that his influence on Congress as a whole has been corrosive. Plus, he's an opportunist who's looking at a million dollar plus payday.
