Meanwhile, troops are still in harm's way and, since Iraq, the media could care less about reporting on wars involving our troops. We do get some cheerful video at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but that's about it.

We used to wait a few years before we forgot wars. Now, we're over them after the first week.



FWIW, though, writer Dan Levy accuses Armstrong of lying to Oprah, too, pointing out inconsistenst statements he made during Oprah's interview, as well as statements Armstrong made during the interview that contradict sworn testimony of his teammates, etc.

1. You forgot Manti Te'o!

The Spousal Unit came up with an explanation last night. Manti Te'o is gay. He created a fictitious girlfriend as a virtual "beard". This argument has merit.

2. That occurred to me as well. Must be difficult for an athlete who does not date women, for

whatever reason.

But, lacking all interest in team sports, unless someone I know is playing, I never heard of this guy or his dead, fake and/or imaginary girlfriend until yesterday.

It's been evident for years that Lance Armstrong doped and Jody Foster is gay.

Indeed, I cannot think of a single show business person whose public coming out has been a surprise to anyone not in a coma.

Often, like Foster, they have lived out among friends and neighbors. They just have not made an annoucement, which I don't feel they owe anyone, anyway.

But, when someone is a big name in show business and never photograph on a date and there is no buzz about breakups or new romances, and they are always solo on the red carpet for premieres and the like, it's pretty much a given that their SO is same gender.

It's not that I even give it any thought, one way or another. At some point, it just sort of seeps in somehow.
