7. Were you really that attached to the old DU though? Don't recall seeing you here before.

8. Well I wasn't super active

But more than just a lurker anyway.

I spent years on DU mostly making throwaway comments here and there, I made the greatest page a couple of times...

But I wasn't called a troll, and my throwaway comments didn't end up before a jury.

Twice I have woken up to find that an innocent comment I had made the previous night on the new DU had been hidden by jury and my posting privelages suspended. When I checked the threads to find how I had offended, I found responses to my now-hidden comment that made me offended. But I couldn't defend myself or complain because of the nature of the system.

I finally quit.

Well I didn't quit. There are a lot of good people there still who do keep me informed like no other website. But I no longer log on and I no longer post because I am tired of being called a troll or worse.

The only reason I came back here is because I stumbled across on old link in an old browser in an old computer.

I'm glad I found it.

Its good to know there is life here.

I will try and post something interesting every once in awhile.

10. I've heard many over the years say they're lurkers mostly

there's lots of people that just read the stories. yeah, a group of bullies can make posting an aggravating situation there. I really enjoyed my tenure as a mod here back about 2 years ago, and it opened my eyes to plenty that I didn't pay attention to normally, as I was just a DUer who posted OPs normally, and stayed out of drama, but when I became a mod, and was immediately challenged as being unfit to be a mod by the bullies - well, needless to say, that cracks me up!

I'm super fair, and was as a mod, even with the true-believer crowd (I sided with their alerts many times, and ignored that the alert was from someone who was rather offensive imho! LOL) You get selected to be a mod by displaying open-mindedness even in disagreement with others who don't have the same views as you - and let's just say, I prefer it here at old DU. LOL The admins were nothing but kind to me, and I to them, and I hope they leave old DU up for us for as long as any of us wish to use it. I earned it! I spent hundreds of hours modding and in return I got to sit in the comfortable mod hot-tub as long as I wished! LOL... (Some of the mods I worked with were so very very sweet and cool).

12. well, when you're a true believer, an even-keeled, well-adjusted person is a threat to the

cult. I couldn't believe the petty things that were alerted upon. Seriously, you'd roll your eyes at the quantity of alerts on simple opinions or questioning about what or why the O Administration was doing what it was doing.

In fact, since the jury system at DU3, I am very much aware of the quantity---and quality---of alerts. That is probably the only positive side of the jury, we all get to see how offended people get over nothing.

yes, that is true, it allows everyone to see the alerts people make.

and the saying hello, well, you typed what is essentially a standard comment to end the post, so that's why you probably did it. that, or you have dual personalities and your world's meshed! okay, that's a bit much... ha!
