Egyptian Ministry of Health "We're deliberately underreporting dealths for |
|
fear of what would happen if the real number of deaths were known."
Source: Good Morning America Weekend at a few minutes after 7 this morning, via a reporter who was in Egypt.
Well, there's a mixed blessing for you. On the bright side, the government admitted to lying. On the down side, the government is lying. Oh, yes, and killing demonstrators.
Cairo has been called "um il dinya" (mother of the world). (Tigris and Euphrates that, Iraq! And no soup for you, bush people of the Kalahari.)
Being flip, but I just cannot imagine being a mom, watching her teens heading out for Tahrir Square.

1. I don't trust any reporting on Egypt. |
|
Our media is so compromised that I have no trust at all.

It's like the Dark Ages. Supposedly, they doubted everything, even their own existence, until "Cogito, ergo sum."
Odd, you doubt your own existence, but not the fact that you are thinking?
Anyway, given propaganda, secrecy, "least untruthful" responses from government and the like, I don't trust government pronouncements.
And the media is the propaganda dissemination arm of the government, unless and until the government crosses someone or something with even more money and power, like ALEC. So, I don't trust media, either.
It really is the third millenium version of the Dark Ages.
