This is a time to ignore the polls... |
|
The most recent polls show that President Obama is dropping in the polls since his speech last Wednesday. They actually pinpoint the speech last Wednesday as the reason for his drop in the polls? Why?
Because his speech challenged the direction they want the country to go. They want to end Medicare. They want to privatize Social Security. They want to continue the Bush taxcuts for the wealthy. They want to continue the contracts for the military industrial complex. The President's words challenged this status quo.
It is unfortunate that so many politicians follow the polls so religiously. My hope is that the President and the Democrats will ignore them. Instead of giving credibility to these polls, Democrats should look at them as credible proof that they are on the right track. These polls should be ignored.

1. Polls are done to create and manufacture public opinion - not |
|
reflect it. I always ignore them.

5. Well, I'm sure politicians have their own internal polls that they |
|
use for their own purposes, but the ones that get published every day are clearly used to create opinion.

|
... by eliminating the 90% of the country's social security and medicare.

4. It's ALWAYS time to ignore polls, other than actual elections |
|
Most polls are concocted with an agenda, and an intent either to create "news" or to influence public opinion.

6. Agreed. Elections are the only "real" polls. |
