32. One reason they seem
out of touch with reality, is that they feel they have to hold on to their principles. They come to conclusions on certain things, and if there is widespread objection to these policies, they just look at it as 'the devil' or 'evil' trying to shake their beliefs.

That's why the church moves at about the speed of a melting glacier. They are simply out of touch with society, and they like it that way.

This is the reason why they never acted on the pedophile priests. They are very insulated from public opinion, and they are used to having a 'carte blanche' in their affairs.

When the trials started in Boston, it was very clear that Cardinal Law was unable to do anyting. He was immobilized by a faith that is frozen in time.
