Did she know about the Bush Cartel plot to plant WMDs in Iraq for her to "find" (probably cooked up by the AIPAC/Franklin Rome group--Ledeen, Ghorbanifar, et al, who--my guess--weren't just forging the Niger docs)? Or was her certainty that she would find WMDs in Iraq a self-delusion (came to believe her own propaganda) that they played upon?

Is she the one who outed her old friend and colleague, the Brits chief WMD expert David Kelly, to his bosses--which started the chain of events that led to his death four days after Plame was outed? Or was her email/tel being monitored by others (possibly someone connected with the Royal United Services Institute) who did so?

Was Miller privy to the "uncomfortable things" that Kelly "could say," that Tony Blair learned about on July 7, 2003, that may have triggered the Plame and Brewster-Jennings outings? (--the "uncomfortable things" possibly being that Kelly had found out about the plot to plant WMDs in Iraq, and/or had helped foil it.) How deeply in the loop was she?

Still wondering: Is she a ruthless operative of the neocon/Likud cabal, or something of a dupe?

If I'm reading Libby's cryptographic paragraph to Miller correctly (and, really, who knows, at this point?), he is assuring her that, a) he is going to take the "fall" for Cheney, Rumsfeld and others (do time--"vacation," as she did, in jail), but b) that's okay because the cabal is still deeply rooted and will be continuing with its skulduggery to widen the ME war, and c) she can now "come back to work--and life" to help propagandize those stories (Iran nukes, biological threats, Iraq elections) (--presumably in some "journalistic" or "think tank" position they've arranged for her), and (maybe) d) her life has been saved by whatever deal Libby made with the other perps.

If (big IF) this is more or less what he meant (and meant it truly as a message to Miller), it would weigh against her being a dupe, although the jail time she did would suggest that, dupe or not, she got caught in the middle between some powerful forces (Cheney vs Rumsfeld? Bush Cartel backing Bush Jr. vs Cheney? White hat CIA vs. Sharon/Likud OSP?).

The Niger forgeries, the planting of the Niger allegation in Bush's SOTU speech, and a presumed effort to plant nukes in Iraq (to be "found" by Miller) comprise Part One of the WMD-planting theory of Treasongate. It was a plot to bait the CIA into a public position of no-nukes-in-Iraq, then discredit them forever (and also reap huge political benefits) when the planted nukes were "found." Part Two is that the plot was foiled, presumably with some participation by Plame/Brewster-Jennings, that David Kelly found out (or also helped foil it), and that the Blairites' discovery that Kelly knew about this plot was the reason for the precipitous, foolish, panicky way that the Bushites outed Plame--calling at least six reporters in one week in a desperate bid to get her outed quickly, and putting many top Bushites at great risk of treason charges--and then, after Kelly was found dead (under highly suspicious circumstances) and his office and computers were searched, they went on (four days later, on July 22) to out the entire CIA WMD non-proliferation project, 20 years in the making (Brewster-Jennings), compounding their risk of treason charges (an entirely unnecessary extra risk, if their object was merely to punish Joe Wilson for his article).

You have to ask: If the cabal knew that the Niger docs were forgeries, why did Cheney order up, or okay, a wild goose to Niger by the CIA to investigate the allegation? (Also, why the special effort to get that disprovable allegation into the SOTU speech, when it had been removed from a previous Bush speech because it was demonstrably bogus? And, why were they such crude forgeries--so easily exposed? Were they MEANT to be easily exposed, as bait to the CIA?)

You also have to ask: If everybody in the cabal knew that there were no WMDs in Iraq, why did they so elaborately set Miller up in Iraq to "find" WMDs (with a special "embed" contract signed by Rumsfeld), and prime the public to expect a "find"? After going to all this trouble, were they just sitting around HOPING she would find some, by chance?

The WMD-planting theory of Treasongate goes some way to explain these puzzles (and others): Treasongate is the coverup of a plot to deceive the world on Iraq WMDs by planting the evidence in Iraq to be "found" by Miller--a plot that went awry--got foiled, by the honest information-gatherers within our governments, or their agents/contacts--and, in the case of Kelly, friends--in other countries, some of whom may now be dead because of the Plame/BJ outings.

But the question still remains: Was Miller a dupe or an operative?

It does not help her case that her name is also connected to the Kelly story. Miller had cultivated Kelly as a WMD expert and had used him as a major quoted source in her book "Germs" (about biowarfare). It was to Miller that Kelly wrote his last email, on the day he died, in which he was concerned about the "many dark actors playing games" (an email that was released by his family, not by Miller). Was she a friend (he seemed to think so), or one of the "dark actors" who were maneuvering against him (and possibly planning to kill him)?

As for the NYT: It appears to me that they are maneuvering to maintain their power, in the current circumstances--that is, to be able to influence the installation of a new VP, who will be Diebolded into office in '08, to continue to expand the ME war. (The U.S. is already over the border into Syria--that started during Katrina--and I think we can expect some dramatic event or discovery, possibly cooked up by the more deeply rooted "aspen" conspirators, to justify a bigger invasion, and get the Bushites and the Blairites out of the hot seat, politically) (--say, a "find" of nuke material, in a border search, that can be tracked back to Iraq, to "justify" the Iraq war in retrospect, and move on to Syria/Iran?).

And they are jettisoning Miller (damaged goods)--with the excuse that she didn't tell them the truth--in order to regain some credibility in this fluid political landscape. (They want to be able to help pick and then promote that VP.) It almost makes you feel sorry for Miller (almost...). (--the way you might feel sorry for, say, Lee Oswald.)

Here's a way that the NYT can regain credibility (with me anyway). Do full disclosure, and then KEEP Miller on their front page as a sort of "house clown" or farcical columnist, as a direct conduit to whatever rightwing "think tank" is going to be paying her salary, so that we can all know what's going down with these "aspens," and what they have planned for us next. Maybe they should even pay her for it. And they could do it even if she goes back to the slammer. ("Letter from a DC jail: What are the fascists planning today?")

Please note: Wilson has described Miller as "collateral damage" like his wife Valerie, of the Bushite efforts to crush dissent, and has said nothing that would point to Miller as an operative of a traitorous cabal, although one thing he has said points to Condi Rice (and thus, other Bushites) expecting his article. (This supports the WMD-planting theory of Treasongate: If the article was not a surprise to them, why the rush to out Plame and BJ in such a highly risky fashion?)
