Now kids everywhere have a GOOD EXCUSE!!!

Beans are sooo easy to grow - my mom & dad used to grow yellow and green bush and pole beans - I used to pick 'em and eat them when I passed by cutting the grass - along with the cherry tomatoes...used to grow green onions, carrots and parsely right into the winter...cleared away the snow to get them out...

My Grandmother had bunches of currents, too...

and our neighbor had a yard full of rhubarb that she almost would throw away until my mom almost fainted at the thought of such a great thing going to waste...others had sweet and sour cherry trees and green and yellow apple trees - the summer was busy - I had to first pick up all the apples that fell to the ground before I could cut the grass...I'm an expert apple, cherry and rhubarb pie maker to this day because of this!!!
