20. High school students in the white GOP county next to my Democratic county make anti-Obama statements
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 01:48 PM by CottonBear
Excerpt from an e-mail dated 11-06-08 from a local Oconee County, GA Democrat who moved to the county from the predominantly Democratic county of Athen-Clarke:

Since we have moved from Clarke to Oconee (several years now), we have seen too few instances where folks are speaking up (this list excepted) and too much comfort in the status quo. We are trying to teach our daughters not to stand idle when teachers and students make references to the travesty of the liberal democrats in office (my daughter had to talk down chants of “watch out, O’bomba, O’bomba” today) so it’s hard not to speak up when the need arises.

A (Republican) woman made a snide comment to her teenage son about my "Barack and Roll" Obama t-shirt when I was in the local Publix grocery store on election day. She said (very loudly so that I could hear as she passed by me) "That's not the way to redistribute the wealth honey." I said "excuse me?" because I thought she was speaking to me (she was looking at me.) She quickly said "I was talking to him."

I recently was in the same Publix here in very conservative Oconee County, GA. I was purchasing a NYT and a Republican man, who was dressed in preppy clothing, walked up and asked me if I was going to buy the NYT paper and I said yes. Then, he said "I don't believe a word that's printed in it" and spun around and quickly walked off!

Oy!:eyes: I'm glad I live in a blue county and just work in the adjacent red county!
