59. Just as you wouldn't trumpet a single study that claims MJ CAUSES cancer, |
|
you shouldn't hail as definitive proof a single study saying MJ CURES cancer.
the statement "cannabinoids" appear to be "a new family of potential antitumoral agent." is a scientifically weak statement, with lots of wiggle room. If you or a loved one had cancer, would you be okay with MJ being the primary, or sole treatment?
Good science can be replicated under controlled conditions. If this study is sound research, somebody will be able to duplicate the results, strengthening the hypothesis (i.e. MJ cures cancer). This is not the same a variety of different studies, using different methodologies all claiming health benefits for those who use MJ- it would have to be the same/similar study, with the same type of patients, etc.
Unfortunately, it is my understanding that research into the potential helpful/healthful effects of MJ is illegal in the US, which is why this study came from Spain. Just think what might be learned if our massive research capacity in the US were unrestrained to learn what it could about the curative properties of MJ.
