Yes, I'm aware that niacin is helpful for people with high cholesterol. In $cientology, however, they use it as a cure-all for everything up to and including addiction problems--it borders on the bizarre, and can be very, very dangerous (because they prescribe doses far, far higher than any reputable physician would recommend).
