PHILADELPHIA -- It’s official. The Red Sox and Yankees have surpassed Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold for the most annoying, bickering couple in history. You might have thought that the Red Sox ending 86 years of ineptitude last fall would have eased the tensions between Boston and New York. But it didn’t.

All the Red Sox’s comeback from a 3-0 deficit against the Yanks in the American League Championship Series and sweep of the Cardinals in the World Series did was inspire all of those bleeding-heart, terminal New Englanders (you know the usual suspects: Stephen King, Ben Affleck, Peter Gammons, Jim Salisbury, etc.) to add an addendum to their monotonous stories.

And so, when the Sox and Yanks got back at it with a series each in the Bronx and Boston during the opening 10 games of this season, someone was bound to don the clown’s nose and garner the undivided, overblown attention of the press. Ladies and gentlemen, playing the part of Bozo this time is Chris House.

<snip>As for the Yankees and Red Sox, what level of outrageousness remains for these bloated franchises and their megalomaniacal fans? A mud-wrestling match between general managers Brian Cashman and Theo Epstein?
