Phrase it as a question so as to avoid the charge of distorting. "I was just asking!"

Pat Robertson does this shit all the time in his books. "Could it be that (outrageously false assertion)?" "Is our president (outrageously false assertion)?" "Isn't the truth that (outrageously false assertion)?" It's a way to get utter bullshit out into the general conversation without having to be culpable for libel or slander.
