Bush awesome in accomplishments

I admire President Bush.

I am impressed by his speed in the 5K run of under 22 minutes when, as a younger man, I'm trying to hit 27 and only dream of 24.

I marvel that as leader of the free world he managed to get away on retreat for 500 days in the first three years, two months of office while, as a small business owner, I've gotten about 100 days in 25 years.

I am inspired by his ability to sleep well at night during the year of Iraq's occupation when many of his 130,000 soldiers were without flak jackets or vehicle armor and trying to sleep in 100-degree heat.

I look back in awe at a career in which he led two companies into bankruptcy and led the Texas Rangers into the cellar and led the state of Texas into record budget deficits and then traded it all in, with only a smile for boot, for the biggest job in the world.

President Bush is a great and heroic figure whose accomplishments are perfectly suited to his next important task — retirement.

Glade McInnis
Clinton
