... in college, I took the PE swimming course every semester. There were always just a couple of black students taking the course, and none of them knew how to swim before coming to class. Also, I learned that blacks have higher bone density, which makes it more difficult for them to float. To pass the course, we had to 'vertical float' for 20 minutes. Some of the blacks had a really hard time doing that. So perhaps it is a mix of not having the opportunity, not having the desire, and if they do try, it might be more difficult for them physically.
Now, as a fat chick, I could float for days. Who says being fat doesn't have it's advantages?
