50. Commies blamed for Reichstag fire

I was at an event not too long ago where a speaker mentioned that even as the Reichstag was burning, one of Hitler's henchmen (I think it was the propaganda minister Goebbels) was on the scene loudly proclaiming to the press and everyone within earshot that they knew the commies were responsible for setting the fire. Compare that to the WTC attacks on Sep 11th. As they show that almost continuous endless loop of the plane crashing into the WTC and the collapse of the towers, we are treated to a non-stop commentary by the talking heads about Osama bin Laden and al Quaida being responsible.

I was suspicious too from the moment I turned on the TV that morning and saw how they were repeating the video clips of the disaster continuously throughout the day and at the same time had the talking heads onside to conveniently assign the blame to Osama and al Quaida. I thought to myself that the whole thing smacked of a giant propaganda exercise out of a George Orwell novel.
