24. I Like Karenina
Learnng of your irreplaceable loss at such a young age broke my heart. My mom and her twin lost their dad at age 12. They have missed him ever since.

Your dad must have been a most wonderful man to help form and raise a person like you. Your kind nature, quest for truth, and refusal to give in shows yours to be a most special family, Karenina.

Yes, 10-year-olds can know much more than what the calendar says they should know. Questions of politics certainly can be considered and discussed and understood. And questions of right and wrong -- they are easy to answer: Put people first and follow the Golden Rule.

One thing hasn't changed since your childhood: I'd bet you're still the same person you were then, but with the added benefit of having lived through some of the most turbulent history the world has known. Those experiences make it possible for you to see what kind of world ours can be.

So my most sincere thanks to your dad and to your family, for you are one of those working today to create a better tomorrow. That's why I'm so thankful to be part of this world -- people like you and yours.
