I don't remember any conservative political discussion or preaching. Any conservative "thou shalt not" type of speeches was aimed at how young adult Christians should behave, not condemning the student body in general. There were even a couple of gay students in it as well as Democrats and other liberals. When a Christian anti gay organization distributed propaganda on campus, the group wrote an editorial condemning their tactics and said that individual members have a variety of beliefs on homosexuality (whether it is sinful or not) but regardless it does no good to harass people. There were fun recruiting events. Many young adults think traditional religion is boring. Fun is a big recruitment tool.
