Couple of things no one ever talks about....
Advertisements [?]
Has no one else noticed the odd nature of these two things?
The first is the national "do-not-call" list, which was announced by Bush to much fanfare a month or two before the Iraq war was started. The announcement seemed odd, out of place, even trivial when the next thing he would start talking about was starting a war. It didn't occur to me why they were pushing it until someone on TV mentioned that one of the effects of this would be dramatically increased demand for advertising on TV and the radio and in newspapers. Of course, when demand increases for a product or service, the price goes up. And when the price of advertising goes up, who makes money? Disney, Viacomm, Fox, etc.....
We all know how kindly the media treated Bush over this war. The timing of the announcement of the do-not-call list was no coincidence. They were scratching each others' backs.
The second odd thing is Bush's mention of sex slavery in his UN speech. What the HELL was that? There HAD to be a reason.
Russia's been having very serious economic problems for years. Because of that a lot of their women have been exploited sexually in all kinds of ways: pornography, prostitution, etc. It's become very common there.
And here's Bush trying to get support from "allies" in his speech to the UN. Are the sex slavery remarks Bush threatening the Russians? I'm watching Fox right now, and their commentators are saying that Bush needs to be tough on the Russians. They've brought up a number of embarassing things about them and are discussing them. They're basically trash talking (this is how we treat our ALLIES??). I think the Bushees know they NEED Russia's support not only for Iraq, but also in dealing with Iran. And instead of being nice, they're making threats and talking trash.
It also makes we wonder about Blair....some people have said that he must have been blackmailed to go along with the war, when he knew his people would be so passionately against it. British politicians have had some sexual issues in the past, too.
Anyway, when politicians bring up things like that, that seem to have nothing to do with the issue at hand, I always take a closer look. I think the Bush's are doing some wheeling and dealing. It's just too weird.
