3. Dennis Miller was never funny
nor was he ever witty or insightful or clued in to what was going on out there in the real world. The guy spent his life in front of a camera instead of actually seeing what life was really like.

That's why his schtick never worked but he always thought of himself as an intellectual even though when he tried to show how witty he was, he came off as really misinformed and unaware. He knew some words in the vocubulary. Big deal because I did too and I remember all the times that he tried to use them in a sentence and was incoherent. Then on top of that if someone asked him to explain himself he just got mad and basically called them idiots.

Now he's trying to parlay that routine into spin for the right wing and it isn't working. Much of the base he tries to appeal to in fact resents that sort of smug and arrogant demeanor, especially when its the "I'm smarter than you" kind of demeanor. Another thing is that he tries to use that against liberals-who as a whole happen to champion higher education as a key component of what they stand for. So Miller sets himself up against the likes of Al Franken-a Harvard grad-and you get the idea.
